The follow-up to the initial “Sanderson” sisters movie isn’t quite as good, but it remains a pretty solid sequel bringing back Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy for some wicked witch antics. This time, the story centers on "Becca" (Whitney Peak) and her friend "Izzy" (Belinda Escobedo), who accidentally awaken the witches by using a magical candle. Predictably, the trio are hungry for children and want to get back at someone! It takes a while before Midler and the others really appear, and initially the film feels like a confusing teen movie, but things pick up considerably once they’re in action, offering plenty of fake villainy from "Winifred" and some playful moments as her sisters realize they can also use magic. Even the spell book gets to decide its own fate—but who will it choose? The standout character is undoubtedly “Billy Butcherson”—or at least his head—and a spirited rendition of Blondie’s "One Way or Another" really gets your foot tapping. It's an enjoyable movie for families that delivers on its goal, providing gentle, charming, and ultimately unremarkable entertainment.
