I realize this film might seem shallow and uncomplicated to some viewers. It seems like more attention was given to the exciting action sequences than to developing a deeper plot. However, I really don't mind! I ended up liking this movie quite a bit. Agent 47 is undeniably cool and delivers plenty of intense action. The antagonists certainly receive their share of punishment. The action itself is well-executed, and there’s a good amount of high-tech equipment and gadgets on display. It’s hard to find fault with it. The movie begins with an impressive opening sequence that introduces Agent 47. I have to admit I was immediately impressed. The rest of the film continues with numerous action set pieces, interspersed with occasional lulls. At least the first half is essentially one long pursuit. I should mention that I haven’t played Hitman and don't really know the original story. From what I've seen in other people's comments, it seems like this might have actually helped me enjoy the movie more. Some viewers are likely to complain about the acting, since Agent 47 doesn't display much emotion or facial expression. But that’s kind of the point! He’s meant to be a detached and ruthless killing machine, so people should stop complaining. I personally found Agent 47 to be an excellent character. There's one scene in particular that stood out where Agent 47 deliberately allows himself to be captured inside an embassy. Once he is there, much to the audience’s surprise, he begins tearing the place apart. You really have to see it to understand. The second part, or perhaps just the final third, of the movie shifts into a search and destroy mission for Agent 47 and his new partner. This section maintains the same level of action as the earlier parts of the film. As expected, everything culminates in a large confrontation between Agent 47 & Co. The ending itself wasn't particularly surprising but was still satisfying. The one thing that bothered me about the movie was this subdermal armor concept. The idea itself wasn’t bad, but they really pushed it too far. Seriously! Just shoot him in the head or an eye or some other vulnerable spot for goodness sake. Bulletproof my foot! I honestly don't understand why this film has received such low ratings. A score of 5.7 on IMDb seems a little harsh. The Rotten Tomatoes rating, unsurprisingly, is terrible. Rotten Tomatoes and their “critics” are the worst kind of rating system. That’s usually when I become interested in a movie – when they rate it poorly. My next step is to look at what actual audience members thought, which often paints a different picture. Anyway, I'm getting off track. Ultimately, for me, this is a straightforward, high-octane action film and I really enjoyed it.
