I experienced genuine surprise when I reached the film's conclusion; she remained trapped and never escaped her older sister’s control. This pattern of subjugation began in her early schooling years, even though there were moments suggesting a different possibility. The initial scenes contained quite explicit imagery that demanded attention. I detected a somewhat unusual emotional response, perhaps because the cultural influences didn’t feel distinctly Korean. Nevertheless, I'm glad I watched it.
