I really got enjoyment out of *Heretic*, and that’s largely due to the performers involved. The story itself provides amusement, certainly, though toward the finish it felt somewhat stretched—a feeling lessened by the strength of the acting. It's ultimately a diverting psychological horror film. Hugh Grant is excellent in the lead; he’s an actor with the talent for this kind of material. I’ve mentioned it previously, but I always found his character in the *Bridget Jones* movies to be unsettling, and that was enough evidence for me to believe he could handle something like this. He's definitely creepy here too. Chloe East is also good, and Sophie Thatcher even more so; these two roles, along with her upcoming part in 2025’s *Companion*, demonstrate a promising career—I look forward to seeing what she does next. Aside from the story feeling somewhat thin at times, the ending isn't entirely convincing, but I’m willing to disregard any reservations I have about it, honestly.
