Seeing Hercules again didn't improve my opinion; in fact, it seemed even less impressive than I thought it was initially. The overall production values were seriously lacking. The costumes and sets appeared artificial and unoriginal, which really detracted from any feeling of being drawn into the world. It’s a letdown because the underlying story had promise, but ultimately it didn't manage to convey anything worthwhile or even tell a complete story that felt good. However, there were some positive aspects regarding the acting. Ian McShane, Rebecca Ferguson, Aksel Hennie, and Rufus Sewell all gave noteworthy performances that added some much-needed energy to the film. Dwayne Johnson was exactly as anticipated—he had his usual charm but also felt very familiar. His portrayal wasn't notably different from what he’s done before, and while he certainly embodies the action hero type, he didn’t do anything particularly special with this role. The movie started with a decent premise, but it couldn't make that idea significant or stick in your mind. It’s unfortunate because it could have been considerably better with more skillful direction and higher production standards. As things stand, it feels like a missed chance. While there are moments I enjoyed, the problems were hard to overlook.
