The film Helter Skelter investigates the darker aspects of beauty and advantage through the character of Ririko, a successful model whose manufactured appearance starts to deteriorate as she faces strain from her profession and struggles with personal issues. The movie’s impressive imagery and unsettling mood effectively portray the mental burden that comes with celebrity status; however, certain decisions in how the story unfolds and the recurring voiceover narration detract from its emotional resonance when contrasted with Helter Skelter. Even with some inconsistencies in how it's presented, it still offers a thought-provoking and visually arresting look at identity, fixation, and what’s sacrificed in pursuit of flawlessness.
