This feels like a defining film for its era. It incorporates all the familiar elements and expectations of the style, yet rises above them due to the quality of the script. Marking the debut major project from Finn, Billy, and themselves as writer, director, and actor respectively, it establishes them as a group worth following closely. The characters feel authentic, the writing is concise, and the camera work is purposeful. The audio isn’t always even, though I suspect that might be because some of those involved were pushing their vocal abilities. The violent moments are significant and largely achieved through physical effects, but aren't excessive. It doesn’t run on too long and manages to stay engaging from beginning to end. It may not garner any major accolades, but it is definitely worth seeing. I would recommend this for genre enthusiasts or as a way to introduce younger viewers to the conventions of horror films.
