This film shares a similar tone to the earlier movie released six years ago; it’s an oddball and entertaining send-up of metal culture, largely seen through a Northern European lens. A lot of the jokes are dry and understated, and people who aren't familiar with the scene might miss some of them. For example, there’s a point where a questionable music manager is on the phone, and he mentions Lars—it becomes clear then that he means James. Throughout the film, you’ll find clever nods to Mustaine, Lemmy, J-pop metal, Dokken, among other things. It's probably better to see the first movie before this one because it’s more immediately accessible. This installment delves deeper, as the title suggests, presenting some surprisingly profound ideas while still being absurd and funny. I think it might be even better if you watch it again later since there’s a lot packed into it. The film came out in 2024, has a runtime of 1 hour and 36 minutes, and was filmed in Finland, Lithuania, and northern Germany (Schleswig-Holstein). GRADE: B
