The movie brought to mind Al Pacino’s 'The Panic in Needle Park'. Directed by the Safdie brothers, this independent film draws inspiration from the true story of Arielle Holmes, who also takes on a starring role. It's certainly a bleak film; witnessing those faces and expressions is upsetting. However, it feels very authentic, with a somewhat meandering storyline that doesn’t really find its focus until the last twenty minutes or so, when a minor development brings things to a close. When I watched it, describing the story proved difficult, but it's best experienced as if it were a documentary. Over ninety minutes, the film exposes viewers to the lives of people experiencing homelessness—from their mornings through evenings, showing how they manage and what they want. It’s not an uplifting experience, although you can still gain some understanding about them. I anticipated there would be more instances of violence like assaults, theft, police involvement, or even killings, given the subject matter. To my surprise, those elements were largely absent, aside from drug addiction and occasional petty crime to obtain drugs. It seems this film could mark a turning point for the actress, especially in her personal life. I hope that’s what happens moving forward. The directors deserve credit for making a positive impact on someone's journey. This isn't really something you watch for pure enjoyment; it's more suited for those with an interest in documentary-style filmmaking. It won't appeal to everyone, but some may find it worthwhile or acceptable. _6/10_
