After a bird unexpectedly enters their home, the young "Tinja" (Siiri Solalinna) comforts it before her mother quickly and brutally ends its life. Disturbed by this incident, Tinja goes into the woods where she finds an egg. Bringing it back to her house, she nurtures it, revealing a large being that seems uniquely connected to her. As it matures, the creature appears capable of understanding her thoughts and influencing her behavior, gradually developing human-like qualities—including a capacity for cruelty. The question becomes whether she can manage this increasingly threatening young animal, particularly given growing conflict with her overbearing mother (Sophia Heikkilä) and an irritating younger brother. The narrative feels rather formulaic, and the performances aren't especially strong; the film’s direction and cinematography present too polished of a visual style to create any real sense of danger. While the creature design is impressive, evoking feelings of both sadness and apprehension when it’s handled effectively, those moments are infrequent. Ultimately, this comes across as an awkward family drama that’s easy enough to sit through but unlikely to stick with you.
