They cherished him even after he was diagnosed with Tourette’s syndrome. Tragedy hits when he returns home only to discover his family house destroyed by fire and his parents frozen on their bicycles. The Nazi invasion forces his relocation to Australia, where a series of unfortunate events continues to plague his existence. Along the way, he receives a steel plate in his head, is hit by lightning, battles testicular cancer, and smokes an astonishing 28 cigarettes daily—it’s enough to make anyone want to give up. Eventually, he encounters a nurse named "Val," and for a brief moment, it seems like contentment might be possible. They get married, adopt a daughter who eventually leaves for America, but then more bad luck finds him, leaving him in a nursing home awaiting the end. Will there be one final celebration? The animation style is reminiscent of Aardman’s work and remains captivating to watch, despite "Harvie's" constant run of terrible luck. What truly elevates the film, however, is Geoffrey Rush’s narration—it gives it something special. His descriptions are uncomplicated and direct, delivered with a remarkably even tone, devoid of any particular inflection or stress; it works well alongside the life story of “Harvik Milos Krumpetzki.”
