It’s easy to see why Elwood P. Dowd is so well-liked; he has a wide circle of acquaintances and seems to know practically everyone around. If he doesn't recognize someone, they can simply accept one of his cards. His closest companion, though, is an intelligent spirit who appears as a six-foot-three-inch rabbit. I honestly didn’t realize I could be even more charmed by James Stewart! In this film, he delivers what feels like one of his most lovable portrayals, and it's apparently the part he cherished above all others. Josephine Hull, Victoria Horn, Charles Drake, Peggy Dow, Cecil Kellaway, and a number of other actors contribute to an energetic and vibrant ensemble. Adapted from the Pulitzer Prize-winning play, this is a truly whimsical comedy that honors the unique qualities we all possess. It’s a pleasant and touching movie suitable for viewers of any age. I believe James Stewart voiced a sentiment many share when he says near the conclusion, "I prefer you, too, Harvey."
