Happy Gilmore 2 turned out to be quite enjoyable, at least in my estimation. I watched the first movie when I was younger and liked that one too, but if I'm being honest, I think this sequel edges it out slightly; it feels more consistently well-made, while the original has a few rough patches, in my opinion. Adam Sandler seems perfectly cast as Happy Gilmore – it’s a role he really embodies, and that’s definitely a good thing. Besides Sandler, there's a large ensemble with lots of fun cameos, particularly from an amateur group and someone connected to *Jackass*. Among the more prominent supporting players, Benny Safdie provides some laughs. Christopher McDonald is also reliably good. It was pleasing to see familiar faces returning from the first film, even through brief appearances honoring those who have passed away. I appreciate it when sports comedies include well-known figures from the sport itself, and those cameos here are entertaining. Overall, it’s dependable entertainment. It doesn't elicit a lot of uproarious laughter, but it’s perfectly acceptable. A decent comeback for Mr. Gilmore.
