It's remarkable how someone can seemingly have everything and still desire more. "François" (Jean-Claude Drouot), contentedly married to "Thérèse" (Claire Drouot) and raising two children, "Pierrot" and "Gisou," appears perfectly happy with his life. However, a business trip leads to an encounter at the post office with "Émilie" (Marie-France Boyer), beginning a chain of events involving smiles, conversation, and subtle flirtation. François isn't malicious; he claims to love his wife and insists she remains his priority—a condition that “Émilie” seems resigned to accepting, though cautiously. Later, during a family outing, he feels compelled to reveal the situation to his wife. While this might seem like an attempt at honesty, the outcome is something you’ll need to witness for yourself. There's a peculiar sense of unresolvedness throughout the film. No one involved comes across as overtly bad or cruel, yet François emerges as perhaps one of the most self-centered characters I’ve encountered in movies—though his selfishness is gentle. He honestly believes this arrangement, dividing his attention between two women, will be acceptable to everyone. The acting is excellent, and the sparse dialogue enhances a narrative that proves surprisingly engaging. The musical score may be slightly excessive, but it's still worthwhile spending eighty minutes with before reaching an ending that might prompt you to look at your own partner—or perhaps even yourself?
