I don’t typically enjoy horror films, however, the fairytale elements incorporated into this one were captivating enough for me to consider it among my favorites. It creates a uniquely unsettling atmosphere; the music and overall aesthetic of the children's realm evoke comparisons to *Coraline* whenever she enters that other dimension. The pervasive sense of cheerfulness and perfection contributes significantly to the film’s creepiness. While horror components are present, they are understated and function as an artistic element within the narrative. I particularly appreciate the plot twists and backstory revealed, which are both tragic and deeply moving. The conclusion is also exceptionally well-done and fulfilling, a welcome change from many films in this genre that leave me wanting more.
