It seemed like Al Pacino was attempting a Southern accent at times, yet still wanting to sound like himself, though he appeared to forget about it in certain moments. I’m not sure what was happening with that. The plot is familiar territory—you've encountered similar narratives before. This time around, the antagonist engages in a hangman game as part of his method, reminiscent of something like *Se7en*, but considerably less engaging. It felt comparable to *January Man*, only without the enjoyment factor. The film fails to bring anything fresh to its well-worn genre and lacks an intriguing narrative. Ultimately, it’s a disappointing movie featuring two capable performers who don't deliver their best work, a storyline that doesn't enhance the genre—let alone provide entertainment—and cinematography so consistently dark that minimal set design was necessary, with the lighting seemingly restricted to a single setting.
