Having been a fan of Let the Right One In, I anticipated quite a bit from the Norwegian film Handling the Undead. Those expectations diminished gradually as I watched it unfold. I could describe it as evocative or significant in some abstract sense, but I won’t. What it really is, at its heart, is a slow-paced zombie movie that doesn't offer anything new to the genre. The main difference lies in how overly sentimental and sluggish this film feels; it’s generally quite disheartening. I almost gave it an even lower score, but the acting and visuals are well done—the problem for me is with the story itself. Ultimately, while Let the Right One In was exceptional, I would say this movie represents its opposite. To put it plainly, without searching for some deeper significance, in my view, it’s just not very good. If you enjoy zombie movies, most others are preferable to this one.
