The arrival of Halloween (2018) felt like a welcome change for the series, injecting more graphic content while still respecting its foundations in suspense. However, the film abandons some of those earlier elements, portraying Michael as an unrelenting killing machine at times. Coupled with what feels like intrusive social commentary, the bringing back of previous actors seems contrived, and the characters are difficult to connect with, leading you to almost hope for Michael’s success. I found myself wishing the movie would conclude, which is a negative indicator. Verdict: _Poor_
