Having watched films for over fifty years, across all sorts of genres and styles – whether alone or with my wife – I feel confident in offering an honest opinion on most movies. Seeing reviews here that differ so dramatically, an 8-star rating alongside a 1-star one, suggests either one reviewer is completely mistaken or the film lands somewhere around a 5-star average. I watched it last night for the first time and found it agreeable enough, though not exceptional. It’s a respectable sequel to the original, and Rob Zombie's initial remake of *Halloween* was quite good, considerably better than his subsequent attempt. I completely agree with Peter’s assessment; the character known as "the star" is loud, uses excessive profanity, and comes across as ignorant—plus, she isn't a strong actress unless her sole purpose is to scream directly at the viewer. I appreciate seeing actors I recognize from other shows and movies, although some of their appearances feel like missed opportunities while others are well-placed. However, I also have to give it a 1-star rating. While I don't mind profanity in films, it needs to be used purposefully; here, the F-words are tossed around casually, which feels unnatural. Even working in a factory with mostly men who drank before, during, and after their shifts, foul language wasn’t so prevalent. I would have rated it higher if that weren't the case, and if her role was limited to screaming. It makes me wonder if Rob Zombie was under the influence while filming, as Peter jokingly suggested! The person who gave it an 8-star rating is far off base; apart from acknowledging that this is his darkest movie yet, this film isn’t good. Don't spend a single minute of your time watching it. Instead, watch the sequel with Jamie Lee Curtis—that one is quite enjoyable—and number three as well, which is better than its reviews suggest.
