I have to say, for my taste, _Halloween II_ felt like Rob Zombie’s bleakest work and more disturbing than any other film in the _Halloween_ series. The characters are filled with pain, ugliness, anger, disgust, brutality, and coarseness—and that's just limited to those on what seems to be the side of good! Mikey returns prominently. His appearance has changed somewhat, but it’s presented in a believable way, like someone who is an insane, homeless giant and also a serial killer. While the depressing atmosphere made parts of the movie difficult to sit through, I do think it was ultimately worthwhile. The performances are powerful, the writing is unusual yet well-crafted, the music is fantastic, and the plot completely draws you in. I realize this might be an unpopular opinion, but as far as I’m concerned, _Halloween II_ deserves its place among the best horror movies ever made.
