It’s disheartening to see HALLOWEEN ENDS (2022) labeled as "bad," "terrible," or “disgraceful,” and it makes me concerned about the future of movies if audiences only seem interested in formulaic productions. This film is a really odd creation, and it likely holds some kind of record for how rapidly characters develop on screen. I was genuinely hoping that connection would work out. I'm going to say something that might upset people... Was Michael Myers even necessary here? Perhaps the couple of scenes we see early on, set in the sewers, would have sufficed—maybe pass the evil onto someone else and let Michael succumb to his injuries. The idea of the evil being spread felt effective, and Corey (played by Rohan Campbell) was definitely the most memorable character. There are problems, certainly – the narration and memoir segments didn't add anything useful, and Corey’s mother… well, I won’t elaborate on that. Despite these flaws, I do respect this film; it’s better to take a chance than to simply repeat familiar patterns. Before I start a fan club for Corey, though, all I’ll say is... be open to something different.
