_Halloween_ definitely holds its place as a landmark film. It’s undeniably one of the most important movies in the slasher category, and certainly appropriate for any Halloween horror movie viewing event. However, I believe that its reputation regarding quality is somewhat overstated. The initial and final portions—roughly ten minutes each—are truly exceptional. Yet, what occurs during the central part? It's surprisingly dull and irritating at the same time. The violent scenes are enjoyable if you’re into that type of content, but most of _Halloween_ feels dated. Granted, it didn't feel that way originally, but after watching other films do those things more effectively—and with better performances—it doesn’t really matter who pioneered the approach. _Final rating:★★★ - I enjoyed it. I would suggest checking it out._
