This film is truly awful, yet I found myself thoroughly enjoying it. Here’s why you ought to see Hackers, listed without a specific ranking: - A very young Angelina Jolie, radiating heat, - Jonny Lee Miller with platinum blonde hair (a real charmer), - Matthew Lillard, delivering a performance that seems dialed up to the maximum, - Two hacker/DJ characters called Razor and Blade (go ahead and shed a tear), - A fantastic, undeniably predictable GenX soundtrack, - The inclusion of an Eddie Vedder reference because "it's 1995" (and it’s great), - Fisher Stevens acting his part as if he were on some kind of stimulant, - Did I mention Angelina Jolie? Does this movie have anything to do with reality? Not really. Does this accurately depict how hacking is done? Please. Is it everything you could want from ninety minutes of pure escapism? Without a doubt. Hackers is appealing and ridiculous, and wonderfully bad in all the right ways. I’ve made my suggestion.
