The movie feels like it just goes on and on. I can overlook how outlandish the story of *'Gus'* is, but it’s still a tedious and foreseeable experience. There are some mildly amusing moments throughout its 96 minutes, however, most other aspects feel very ordinary. The storyline itself seems familiar, reminiscent of many high school or sports comedies Disney made during that time period. Regarding the actors, Ed Asner delivers the strongest performance as Hank Cooper. Don Knotts (Venner) and Tim Conway (Crankcase) appear together again, after *'The Apple Dumpling Gang'*; although they aren’t paired up this time, Tom Bosley (Spinner) is alongside Conway instead. Still, none of them are particularly entertaining to watch. There are a few other passable but unremarkable parts, while the sports commentary segments come across as more irritating than humorous. It’s not something I’d suggest watching, even if you could find considerably worse live-action movies from this studio.
