Imagine combining elements of Indiana Jones, Zulu, and The Man Who Would Be King, then swapping Michael Caine and Harrison Ford for Cary Grant—the result is a film that has aged remarkably well. Grant’s comedic timing is spot-on; I laughed out loud during the punch bowl scene. Drawing inspiration from several poems by Rudyard Kipling, the movie recounts the adventures of three British army officers who find themselves up against a group of Indian assassins linked to a cult. Gunga Din, their water carrier (and here's a spoiler), ultimately becomes their savior. It’s safe to say that Lucas and Spielberg should probably be prepared for accusations of borrowing ideas; Temple of Doom comes awfully close to replicating certain scenes!
