I honestly didn’t plan on seeing this movie. It turned out to be not entirely unpleasant, though. The initial portion, lasting roughly 75 minutes, is reasonably effective, but the ending felt a bit disjointed. Grimcutty (2022) calls to mind The Babadook (2014) because it incorporates a social commentary element. As far as I can tell, this film addresses themes of overbearing parenting, unrealistic demands, and the failure to recognize that you and your child are separate individuals. Though, I might be misinterpreting things! "I AM YOUR MOTHER!" remains my favorite quote from The Babadook (2014), while "COME GET SOME!" stands out in Grimcutty (2022). [SPOILER WARNING] Another line that really struck me is "[...] when I asked you about the cuts, you could have simply stated that Grimcutty is a massive, real-life creature, and it’s going to harm you." That's what we were all thinking, Cassidy!
