It's hard to say who "Gremlins 2: The New Batch" was really made for, given how strange and visually overwhelming it is. There are moments where the violence seems inappropriate for younger viewers, while at the same time, the film’s silliness probably won’t appeal to older teens. Despite this, it's quite amusing in its own messy fashion, as a flimsy plot connects one bizarre scene after another. The gremlins themselves appear genuinely scary—though that’s perhaps an oversight from another movie—and there are some surprisingly graphic moments throughout. Still, the film finds a fairly original solution for getting rid of the gremlins causing trouble in the Clamp building, and this conclusion wraps up what is basically a very thin narrative.
