It's possible to accomplish great things simply by embracing who you are. This sports-biography tells the story of an American football player who overcame numerous challenges to reach success at the college level. He was overweight and the youngest in his family, so he had a difficult path ahead of him as he pursued his goals. It’s a film that could be motivating for those hoping to make it in sports. The movie is well-made considering it comes from an unfamiliar director, and the acting is good. Regardless of what you want to label it, I consider this to be a B movie—a pretty good one at that. Neal McDonough is probably the most familiar face in the cast and he really carried the film after the main character. The narrative unfolded through his point of view and felt more emotionally resonant than I anticipated. I'm not familiar with football myself, but it’s easy to understand what’s happening—particularly when you see people working hard to achieve something significant. It hasn’t gained widespread popularity even within America, but if you’ve heard about it and are looking for a bit of encouragement, this film will suffice. People often describe films like this as essential viewing, though I'd say it is worth watching rather than absolutely necessary. _7/10_
