It's frustrating to see talent applied to such an unproductive scheme! The filmmakers devised a clever method for smuggling substantial amounts of cocaine into the United States by concealing it within containers of seemingly harmless material. However, their vessel suffers a mishap, sinking directly into an area frequented by sharks, prompting their leader to send a specialized recovery team. Simultaneously, DEA agent “Gia” (Angela Cole), recently bereaved, is taking time away from her duties while diving in the vicinity—a location that should be obvious. She happens upon another boat with “Charlotte” (Ashton Leigh) and her tough companion “Jareth” (Johnny Ramey), and finds herself assisting them in recovering their containers of valuable merchandise from the ocean floor. She possesses a device designed to ward off the sharks, but will it prove sufficient to ensure everyone’s survival? Will “Gia” also desire something else? Very quickly, we learn everything there is to know about these characters, along with the identity of their criminal mastermind on land, and at that point, one would expect to simply relax and trust in the natural order of things. Unfortunately, that might only have occupied ten minutes, leaving ninety more to fill, so now we’re subjected to lengthy exchanges and staged martial arts sequences, while the sharks are surprisingly absent from a plot that is poorly constructed and carried out. The performances are generally unremarkable, and the conclusion is genuinely absurd. Without revealing too much, if a shark were to bite off your arm while you're floating on a small boat, it’s probable you would be screaming before succumbing to shock. It’s unlikely you’d remain calm, wrapped in a towel, engaging in conversation! Indeed, this is the sort of film that, considering the minimal role played by the underwater threat, I believe is best skipped altogether.
