The story falls short of expectations. Stephen King’s tendency to unfold narratives at a leisurely pace is well-documented; he often prioritizes developing atmosphere, personalities, and the central message. Occasionally, this approach proves effective, but it doesn't function here. The written version feels drawn out, and the film adaptation simply comes across as dull. The people involved don’t manage to hold your attention, there isn't enough suspense, and a genuine sense of dread never emerges. It all feels distant, foreseeable, and surprisingly ordinary. There are many superior films based on his work available for viewing.
