The performance by Archie Madekwe stands out as he portrays Jann Mardenborough, a gamer who participated in a contest created by Nissan employee Danny Moore (Orlando Bloom). The goal was to increase the visibility of their sports cars within a racing world typically led by brands like Porsche and Ferrari. Initially, there's considerable skepticism about whether these individuals, essentially avid gamers, could succeed in such a demanding environment. However, with guidance from coach Jack Salter (David Harbour), who seems somewhat weary but experienced, they commit to pushing these young people beyond their perceived boundaries. The story that follows is rooted in true events, which lessens the suspense surrounding the final outcome. Nevertheless, director Neill Blomkamp effectively generates excitement through impressive action sequences that heighten the intensity. Bloom and Harbour don't leave a lasting impression, but Madekwe conveys some of the drive, ambition, and dedication characteristic of his character. It had been quite some time since I’d heard music by Enya playing in a movie theater. The film does require a bit of patience to fully engage – perhaps too much focus on family introductions involving Geri Horner and Djimon Hounsou to warrant their presence—but once those early scenes are over, the pace quickens considerably, making for some genuinely thrilling moments. It’s certainly more impactful when viewed in a cinema.
