Grabbers, directed by Jon Wright and penned by Kevin Lehane, features Richard Coyle, Ruth Bradley, Russell Tovey, and Lalor Roddy in the cast. Christian Henson composed the music, with Trevor Forrest handling the cinematography. Something unusual is happening on a secluded Irish island; Garda partners Ciaran O’Shea and Lisa Nolan are unexpectedly positioned as the community's best chance at staying alive… It’s thoroughly entertaining, drawing inspiration from Tremors—itself inspired by 1950s creature movies—and Grabbers incorporates all the enjoyable, low-budget elements one might expect. What sets it apart is its own distinct character. The island residents are a collection of oddballs, and the two Garda officers have contrasting personalities that avoid tired tropes, their interactions generating genuine humor. The special effects are remarkable considering the film’s budget, and the plot moves forward with clever twists and an awareness of how to exploit familiar archetypes. The visuals are quite beautiful too! Definitely worth seeing. 8/10
