It wasn’t fantastic, but I did find it entertaining. Halle Berry leads the cast of *Gothika*, and she’s supported by Robert Downey Jr. and Penélope Cruz, although we don’t get to see enough of Ms. Cruz, really. The basic idea is handled adequately, though it certainly could have been improved. There's a lot of screaming in the movie, most of which feels pointless. Regarding suspense, I can’t honestly say that it delivers on that front. It’s mostly the performers who make an impression; I still appreciated the overall atmosphere even if I didn’t feel any real tension while watching. The runtime is a blessing at just 98 minutes—adding even ten to fifteen more would have really hurt my opinion of it. As it stands, it's acceptable.
