This is a chance for redemption. Despite not being a particularly strong horror movie, it’s also far from the terrible film some people claim. The issues arise because it spirals out of control; after starting as a very atmospheric and unsettling thriller with an excellent asylum setting, things fall apart in the last section. The filmmakers don't manage to maintain the plot's mysterious elements, which would have helped build tension. The technical aspects are well done, but the actors aren’t given opportunities to do much beyond what’s expected of them. It isn’t truly scary and has moments where it misses out on building suspense, yet there’s still a disturbing feeling that makes it worthwhile for those seeing it for the first time. However, I don't see many people wanting to watch it again. 6/10
