Because my parents didn’t really put restrictions on what I watched when I was a kid—I saw quite a few films that probably weren’t suitable for someone my age. Generally speaking, these movies didn't stick with me… ...but certain scenes in this film affected me just as much as the deaths in *Bambi* and *Old Yeller* did. I attempted to watch it again not long ago, but I turned it off because I recalled what was going to happen—the poaching sequences. Even though I’m nearing 40 and can handle very disturbing films depicting human suffering, I still struggle to finish *Gorillas in the Mist*. Still, whatever I choose to view, I generally enjoy. I'm convinced that, apart from the *Alien* franchise, this is among Sigourney Weaver's finest performances. If you’re able to get through it, then good for you; it’s a worthwhile experience.
