The film is based on an Austrian movie released in 2014. It centers around two brothers who go to their mother's home, but become suspicious of her actions. While the original Austrian production surpasses this one, a key difference here is that there’s some structure to the storyline. If you haven’t seen the earlier film, you might find enjoyment in this version. Initially, the director did a good job making me genuinely believe that one of the brothers had passed away and only the mother could see him alive. The director made an effort to confuse the audience, but ultimately didn't quite manage it. The actors playing the brothers delivered acceptable performances, though the directing failed to maintain any sense of deception for the viewer throughout. A dark mood is established to create a fitting feeling within the house, given the mother’s illness and use of a mask; however, the blending of dream sequences with reality wasn't handled skillfully. This feels like a watered-down version, suggesting that the director could have put in more effort to elevate the film.
