I’m definitely on the side that believes *From Russia With Love* is the greatest Bond film ever made. The debate among fans seems to center less around who was the best Bond—Roger or Sean—and more about whether it's *From Russia With Love* or *Goldfinger* that takes the top spot. *Goldfinger* isn’t the best; it’s the second-best. What sets it apart is its originality and how much enjoyment it provides. Bond really struggles in this film, yet somehow manages to bumble his way to victory—something you haven't seen in any other 007 movie. This is a story about a mission that should have ended in defeat. When the credits rolled, Bond’s record ought to have been two wins and one loss... but he still pulls out a win. And he essentially does it through sheer luck. While he ultimately prevails in the final confrontation, everything leading up to it goes terribly wrong; he really should have died, Goldfinger should have succeeded, and the only reason that didn't happen was due to the cleverness of people who aren’t James Bond. I realize this might sound like I'm criticizing it, but I truly am not. That's precisely what makes it so endearing, memorable, and unlike any other Bond film—an experience you likely won’t see replicated again. The only other movie that even approaches its quality is *Skyfall*, though in *Goldfinger* Bond isn't quite as clumsy... and of course, it stars Sean Connery, who remains effortlessly stylish and charming even while stumbling toward victory. That's probably why this film sparks so much debate among serious 007 fans—its sheer uniqueness, the fact that you’ll never see Bond portrayed like this again. It’s remarkable how Connery can embody such confidence and sophistication while seemingly failing at every turn, making you believe he is anything but a failure despite everything going wrong for him. Above all else, it's incredibly fun and entertaining—and those are two key reasons why people watch movies.
