The film centered on Agent 007’s (Pierce Brosnan) mission into Russia to look into the disappearance of a weapon that uses electromagnetic pulses from space—a device which had already taken out a radar station in Siberia, leaving only one person alive (Izabella Scorupco). Sean Bean portrays an MI6 operative, Famke Janssen is a cold-blooded killer, Gottfried John plays a Russian officer, Joe Don Baker acts as a CIA contact located in St. Petersburg and Judi Dench takes on the role of ‘M.’ "Goldeneye," released in 1995, marked Brosnan’s beginning of his four appearances in the Bond films, and he performs admirably. Some people dismiss him as just being attractive but, even though he is a good-looking man, he also possesses masculinity and strength. He's exactly right for the part. Although the storyline gets complicated, the movie still manages to entertain. Notable action scenes include the initial sequence at a Russian dam, a car pursuit in Monaco, stealing an attack helicopter in Monte Carlo, a chaotic tank chase through St. Petersburg and the final confrontation full of excitement set within Cuban jungles with its hidden base. Izabella Scorupco is beautiful and charming, and her character could have been explored more fully. Famke Janssen, on the other hand, may be the most cruel villainess in the series. The movie has a runtime of two hours and nine minutes and was filmed across several locations: Switzerland (chemical weapons facility), Monte Carlo (casino) & Alpes-Maritimes, France (car chase), England, St. Petersburg, Russia, and Puerto Rico (Goldeneye Satellite Dish & beach scene).
