I found 'Going in Style' to be surprisingly enjoyable. I got more out of it than I thought I would, since I figured I was going to see a fairly sloppy ninety-minute comedy with performances that might not be entirely committed from actors who were famous a long time ago. Fortunately, my assumptions were incorrect. As the film progressed, I liked it more and more. There’s one weak spot during the supermarket scene, but even that manages to recover thanks to Kenan Thompson's appearance. There were several times when I laughed, particularly with the nod to 'E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial' and when Josh Pais’ character does the cat thing again (it’s quick, barely visible) – both moments are genuinely funny! The masks were a nice addition as well. And that final scene involving Annabelle Chow & Nancy Sun is so silly, but I really appreciated it. The movie moves along at a good speed, has a strong latter half, and also includes a nicely executed segment with John Ortiz’s character. It was a pleasant surprise overall; I'd be glad to watch it again. Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, and Alan Arkin make an excellent group together!
