I’ve still got a bone to pick with Godzilla! Gojira vs. Supesugojira, also known as Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla, comes from director Kenshô Yamashita and features a script by Kanji Kashiwa, Hiroshi Kashiwabara, and Shinichirô Kobayashi. The cast includes Megumi Odaka, Jun Hashizume, Zenkichi Yoneyama, and Akira Emoto. Takayuki Hattori handled the music, while Masahiro Kishimoto was in charge of cinematography. Here, Godzilla contends with two new adversaries: Mogera, a giant robotic machine constructed by the United Nations, and SpaceGodzilla, a creature born from particles of Godzilla drifting through space. It's pretty wild—this is part of what’s called the Heisei era of “Zilla” films, and it’s completely crazy. Is it supposed to be funny, serious, or just something thrown together for profit? It's hard to say, and honestly, who really cares? This film has caused a lot of disagreement among Godzilla fans (which is easy to see), incorporating action movie tropes, introducing Godzilla's offspring (a strangely comical Godzuki), and pitting the big reptile against two opponents resulting in massive destruction. Godzilla inevitably levels a city while also dealing with Miki Saegusa’s (Odaka) telekinetic abilities. There are some really impressive visual effects, over-the-top science, an excellent musical score that composers like Williams or Barry could be proud of, and a classic laser beam showdown at the end. It's not exactly brilliant; it feels rather silly and maybe even careless, but there’s still something to appreciate here for pure entertainment value. So buckle up, put aside any critical thinking, and enjoy the vibrant chaos—it's really bizarre! 6/10
