Sony Pictures Animation remains unmatched when it comes to creating visually distinctive animated films, as this one proved to be thoroughly enjoyable! Initially, it seems like a familiar story—a small character attempts to demonstrate his worth, receives an opportunity with a significant group, and ultimately they achieve victory—the basic plot is apparent from the beginning. However, the film then takes a different direction. Once Will Harris, the central figure of Goat, becomes part of the Thorns, the roarball team (that's what basketball is called in this movie), the focus shifts away from his efforts to convince the team he’s valuable and centers more on collaboration. This emphasis on teamwork distinguishes Goat from other sports movies about overcoming adversity, and it’s what makes the film so consistently engaging. The animation itself is exceptional, very humorous, emotionally resonant, and features a fantastic group of voice actors. Plus, the music is great. I have a feeling Goat will become one of my favorite films this year, possibly even all time—it's hard to say!
