The performances are remarkably good, but 'Ginger & Rosa' ultimately feels like it could have been plucked from a show like 'EastEnders'. Let’s begin with what works well. The acting is excellent across the board. Elle Fanning and Alice Englert, as Ginger and Rosa respectively, are both very capable and create a good connection. Alessandro Nivola also delivers a noteworthy performance. I found the cinematography to be quite pleasing too. However, the storyline isn't particularly compelling. It develops reasonably well initially, but the ending feels like something from a daytime drama—all set against a loud atmosphere of political unrest and conflict. It’s not terrible; I did find some enjoyment in it, but it does detract somewhat from the impact of what’s happening, especially since it seems the filmmakers were striving for a more profound significance. I would still recommend seeing this film, though that's largely due to Fanning and the rest of the cast.
