The movie initially appears to follow a standard, predictable horror formula, which made the twist somewhat surprising—I didn't see it coming until right before it happened, but then things began to lose their impact for me. It seemed to reach its high point very early on, and after that, the story felt like it was dragging. The problems arose because the conflicts appeared manufactured, as if they existed simply to fill time rather than stemming from any natural situation. I quickly lost track of what the main characters were trying to achieve. Ultimately, this film left me feeling quite disappointed. Given that it's from the director of MARTYRS, a horror and gore classic, my expectations were high, so the letdown was significant. The only thing that really stood out positively was the jump scares—they were very well done. On another note, I felt like the casting of the antagonist seemed intended as a transphobic joke, because people repeatedly referred to this person, who was dressed in women's clothing, with derogatory language. It struck me as rather insensitive.
