It's difficult to assess this film fairly given the current climate surrounding political correctness, and the reaction against it. There seems to be a trend of wanting to remake every successful movie, seemingly because there’s a perceived shortage of fresh ideas. Despite that, I attempted to approach this with an unbiased perspective, imagining that the films from the 1980s—which I did enjoy—had never been made. To note, I watched it in 3D, something I rarely do, along with my wife and our sons. I found it genuinely amusing and thought the special effects were outstanding. The way 3D was utilized was remarkable; aside from 'Avatar,' it’s the best I've experienced. It's a fun movie that is worth seeing on the big screen. While I haven't previously explored any other works by Feig or starring McCarthy, this one has made me interested in checking out their other projects sometime. There was something to appeal to everyone; my wife and I both liked it considerably, and our sons—ages three and thirteen—loved it too. It’s worth giving a try.
