The initial movie didn’t impress me, and this installment did little to change that feeling. It seemed primarily intended to exploit the popularity of the first film, without any real effort put into fleshing out the characters or crafting a compelling narrative. Essentially, it introduces a baby—though that's undeniably cute—and replaces the antagonists; this time around, we face the somewhat theatrical Carpathian "Vigo," whose full name is Wilhelm von Homburg, that our familiar group must overcome to prevent global destruction (along with a disappointing musical score). The special effects are acceptable, but beyond that, it’s just a rather weak and forgettable imitation of the 1984 film, featuring humor and situations that feel predictable and uninspired. Sigourney Weaver appears intermittently, but her "Dana" role offers little substance, and I found myself genuinely weary of its commonplace nature. The few amusing moments are reserved for after the credits roll, though I prefer my comedy to be a bit more refined than this childish material. It’s not worth your time.
