Many people were quick to criticize this sequel when it was released. It received negative reviews because it seemed unable to reach the level of the initial Ghostbusters film. Honestly, what could? The original was so groundbreaking and incredibly well-received that any follow-up faced an uphill battle in terms of matching its success. This second installment was perfectly acceptable; it proved quite entertaining, and it was enjoyable seeing the familiar characters return. It had a slightly more polished feel to it and used language suitable for families, which gave it some advantages over the first film. A significant difference in this sequel was Peter MacNichol's performance, reprising a character similar to his role in Mel Brooks’ "Dead: And Loving It," alongside Leslie Nielsen. Here, he portrays “Janosz Poha,” another eccentric individual with a noticeable Eastern European accent. His presence is genuinely funny and greatly enhances the film's enjoyment. The rest of the cast essentially delivers performances consistent with the first movie, which means you will likely find plenty to laugh about. The plot simply lacks some intensity; it’s just not on par with the original, but that’s understandable. Ultimately, it’s best not to draw comparisons between the two movies.
