The title is rather bland, reflecting what's on screen. Steve Beck directed this film, with Gabriel Byrne, Desmond Harrington, Ron Eldard, and Julianna Margulies in the cast; it centers around a salvage team that locates a forgotten passenger ship far out in the Bering Sea. Following maritime regulations, they’re allowed to keep anything they find, which turns out to be gold. However, unsettling events soon begin to unfold. The film begins promisingly with a violent and graphic introduction, and the visual elements are impressive—everything seems poised for a genuinely creepy experience amidst the fog. Sadly, what follows is a string of familiar tropes borrowed from superior films, none of which manage to create any real suspense. The filmmakers seem to believe that an over-the-top electronic soundtrack will amplify the dramatic scenes, but it fails to do so, and the actors are let down by both the direction and the script. Essentially, this is horror for novices. 3/10
