As someone who hasn’t experienced the original animated series, I want to acknowledge my reservations about the film due to concerns regarding casting choices. Despite those feelings, I approached watching "Ghost in the Shell" hoping to find something worthwhile. Ultimately, it's a visually striking but ultimately empty experience. The movie is undeniably gorgeous. The action sequences are particularly impressive, with seamless special effects that enhance their flow. However, beyond these visual elements, there’s not much substance. Strip away the eye-catching imagery and you're left with a fairly ordinary action film. The performances were adequate; however, the main actors didn’t have enough compelling material to truly engage with. Johansson, along with the rest of the cast, did what was needed but weren’t given opportunities for anything more substantial. If you are in the mood for some visually impressive entertainment that doesn't require much thought, then this film might be worth seeing.
