Mike Flanagan has impressed me profoundly, once more. While 2017 brought some worthwhile Stephen King adaptations to the screen—along with a few that didn't quite work out, like _The Dark Tower_—_Gerald’s Game_ stands alongside Andy Muschietti’s _It_ as arguably the strongest adaptation of the year. The basic plot alone is sufficient to warrant a positive assessment, but what accompanies it and follows elevates the film considerably. Final rating:★★★½ - I enjoyed this quite a bit. I'd definitely suggest checking it out.
