This movie turned out to be pretty disappointing and just not enjoyable. The story seemed scattered and underdeveloped, which made it difficult for me to get into or find anything worthwhile about it. The effort to make Melissa McCarthy’s character—a genie-like figure intended as a central element—didn't really work, because it didn’t hold my attention. The way the film was put together, from the script to the visuals, wasn't great and lacked what would have made it interesting. I personally didn’t think Melissa McCarthy’s acting worked well in this movie; reactions to her performance could be different for other people—some might like it, others probably won’t. In the end, the film didn't succeed on many levels, because it couldn't offer a story that grabs you or performances that really stand out. It seems likely that Melissa McCarthy fans and those wanting something good to watch will be let down. I think this is one movie you could skip without missing much.
